​**Kid Reservation Policies**

To reserve a kid before it is born, a non-refundable deposit of $100 is required. Once paid, deposits are generally non-refundable unless the reserved kid is unavailable due to reasons such as not being born, a decision to retain the kid, illness, or death. Please understand that we reserve the right to keep any kid born on our farm, regardless of existing reservations, if we choose to do so. Although it is rare, there may be circumstances where we decide to retain a kid initially intended for sale. The remaining balance of the purchase price must be paid within 10 days after the kid’s birth.

We ask for a first and second choice reservation for all deposits.

**Health Guarantee**

We aim for you to enjoy many years of use from the animals purchased from us in your breeding program. All goats leaving our farm will be healthy at the time of departure, and any medications or procedures performed will be disclosed to you. However, once the animal leaves our care, we cannot guarantee its health. You, the buyer, are responsible for maintaining the health of the goat after it leaves our premises, or trust your transporter to do so.

We strive to screen our animals for genetic defects or abnormalities that could hinder their use in a breeding program. If, when the animal matures, a veterinarian determines that it is unable to breed due to a congenital defect, we will replace that animal at no cost to you (though shipping or pickup is your responsibility). We will require a signed statement from your veterinarian and may request additional examination or testing at our expense, conducted at a clinic or university near you before approving a replacement.

Replacement animals must be of the same gender and can be selected from any open reservation or currently available bottle kid, either from the same doe as the original animal or from a doe with the same (or lower) level of freshening as the original doe was at the time of purchase. For example, if you purchased a buck kid from Jane Doe, a second-freshener that year, you may choose a replacement buck kid from Jane Doe or any of our first or second fresheners from the current season.

Mature stock that is currently available is not eligible for replacement unless priced at or below the original kid’s purchase price. If you are interested in a mature animal priced higher, the original purchase price can be credited toward that cost.

This replacement guarantee applies only to animals purchased directly from MetalRose Homeastead. We cannot extend this service to animals bearing our herd name that were bought through third parties.
